OCTOBER 4th - Blessing of the Animals
10 am in the side yard outside of the Fellowship Hall
A ll pet-owners are invited to bring their “special members of the family”
to this brief service of blessing and prayers.  Refreshments for all in attendance.

OCTOBER 4th & 5th - Heritage Festival
Berks County Heritage Center
11:00 am. to 4:30 pm
Celebrating our area's history and transportation heritage
through demonstrations, exhibitions, music, lectures, walks,
and arts & crafts.
FREE to the public, with a $5.00 parking donation

October 5 – 5:30 p.m.Youth Group Meeting
Youth and Parents interested in the Detroit Youth Gathering,
6 - 8 p.m. Youth Group including planning for the Haunted House

October 12 – Walk for World Hunger
After 10:30 a.m. worship, lunch,
then participating in the Walk for Hunger at Gring’s Mill (Get sponsor sheets).
More Haunted House planning when we get back to church

Monday, Oct. 13 – Youth Canoe Trip
4 mile Canoe Trip on the Schuylkill River sponsored by the National Park Service

October 19 –Youth Group Event
SkyZone Trampolin Trip
Lunch at church, then a Trip to SkyZone Trampolin Park at Oaks.

OCTOBER / NOVEMBER FOOD PANTRY:

THANKSGIVING COLLECTION

Once again, Zion’s is partnering with St. John’s, Hamburg to provide “The Trimmings”
for a Thanksgiving meal for our neighbors in need through Northern Berks Food Pantry.
The goal for each congregation is 100 bags - last year we exceeded that.
Let’s see what we can do this year!

Each bag must include the following items:

1 can Cranberry Sauce or applesauce                               1 pkg. Stuffing/ Stove Top                        
2 cans any kind of vegetable                                                 1 jar turkey gravy or mix
1 boxed item (muffin mix, cornbread, brownies, etc.)       1 can pumpkin                     

(Do not put any extra items in the bags. Extra items can be placed in the shopping cart.)

Completed bags can be placed in the shopping cart in the Narthex or on the shelf in the Narthex.
Deadline for donations is Sunday, November 9th.

NOVEMBER EVENTS:

Bazaar Baking schedule:

Baking times will be:
 Monday November 10 - 1 to 4 pm. cookies
 Wednesday Nov. 12 - 6 to 9 pm.
 Thursday Nov. 13 - 1 to 3 pm. and 6 to 9 pm.
 Friday Nov. 14 - 9 am. to 1 pm. apple dumplings

I need minimum of 4 per day to bake.

Donations of baking items needed are:
Butter Flavored Crisco Sticks, Butter, 5 lb. bags flour,
4 lb bags of sugar, eggs, chocolate chips,
frozen 9" pie shells, 2 bags of brown sugar.

NOVEMBER 1st – Youth Volunteer Meeting
11 am in the Youth Room

NOVEMBER 2nd - “Biblically Haunted House”
20 minute tours (5:40 pm to 7:40 pm) by Pastor Bruce
Admission charge is $2 per person with the proceeds benefitting Zion’s Youth Activities.
Bring a flashlight with you.  Sign up for a Tour time on the Bulletin Board.  10 - 12 people per tour.

EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

NOTE: Emergency information about church activities will be announced as follows:

1) if small group meetings need to cancelled or postponed - the group's
participants will be called by phone.

2) Information for large groups, Sunday School and Worship services
will be posted on WFMZ-69 - the information will be on the scrolling bar
at the bottom of the TV screen, or on the Web at: Channel 69 News
under "Weather" - "School and Business Closings".

3) The church's answering machine announcement will have a recorded
message announcing all weather related schedule changes.
